Disappointing to a guy like me looking forward to beating the casino in the one place i could, the dining hall. i did, however, get to do my fair share of gambling, but only on the slot machines, which seems to be the least monitored by security. speaking of security, whatever you see on television, if anything, isn't exaggerated enough. there is at least 12 rent-a-cops to every elvis impersonator. the center of interest to these security personal is the tables. if there's something the casino doesn't want, it's people taking their money. there are cameras everywhere, as well as signs stating `you must be 21 to beyond this point' and so on. i tried my own luck at black jack, the toughest part wasn't the game, but getting in on it. i sat down at the table and slid my jackson across the table in the most mannerly and mature looking in my mind ; as i could. immediately the game paused as the dealer stared at me with a hysterical, yet very perceiving way. "how old are you?' she asked me, `twenty one, ' i responded without hesitation. "when were you born?" she followed up with, but i had anticipated this question from the get go. "2-10-85, " i responded even quicker. she smiled knowingly at my preparation and then slowly pointed confidently at a sign, "we hold the right to card anyone not appearing to be twenty one years of age." or something to that effect. in defeat i grabbed my money and walked off while being escorted by a parade of laughter and claps from those at the table. i tried, but i suppose braces are a dead give away to appearing less than twenty one. las vegas is one of those places everyone should go at least once, whether for shows, gambling or other pleasures, all in all, i'd give myself 1 in 5 odds of returning soon, and hopefully not for a wedding.
